VISIT BY ZAMBIA DEFENCE UNIVERSITY DELEGATION

We hosted a delegation from Zambia Defence University, led by Brigadier General B J L Banda, for a comprehensive familiarization visit.

The delegation was warmly welcomed and provided with an in-depth briefing on the wide array of activities conducted at the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC). This included detailed discussions on the Centre’s pivotal role in fostering peacebuilding, conflict management, and regional security initiatives.

Additionally, the group was introduced to the School of Postgraduate Studies, where they were briefed on the advanced academic programs. This visit marked a significant step in strengthening the ties between our institutions and reinforcing our shared commitment to peace and security in the region.

VISIT BY THE HEKIMA UNIVERSITY COLLEGE STAFF

Hekima University College staff and students visited the Centre on Thursday, 27th March 2025. The delegation, led by Rev. Dr. Elisee Rutagambwa which consisted of twelve (12) Master's students and two (2) lecturers, aimed to familiarize themselves with IPSTC’s education, training, and research activities.

They were also briefed on the School of Postgraduate studies master's programmes by Colonel Muthusi Kimwele.The visit also included discussions on International Military Interventions in Peace Support Operations, a critical subject in the field of global peace and security.

This engagement further strengthened the collaboration between academic institutions and practical peace support initiatives, providing a valuable platform for the exchange of knowledge and expertise.

By the end of the visit, the delegation had gained deeper insights into the practical applications of peace support operations and the role of military interventions in advancing global peace and stability.

AGREEMENT BETWEEN IPSTC AND THE REGIONAL CENTRE ON SMALL ARMS (RECSA)

IPSTC and the Regional Centre on Small Arms (RECSA) marked a significant milestone by officially endorsing their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.

The agreement was formalized by IPSTC, represented by Director Brigadier Joyce Sitienei, and RECSA, represented by Executive Secretary Mr. Jean Pierre Betindji. This collaboration underscores their shared commitment to advancing the Peace and Security Agenda both regionally and globally.

In her remark, Brigadier Sitienei reflected on the longstanding and fruitful relationship between IPSTC and RECSA. She noted, "IPSTC has interacted and worked closely with RECSA for several years. This relationship has been so seamless and natural that one might think we already have a formal agreement in place. Just this quarter, for example, we successfully executed courses such as Physical Security and Stockpile Management, as well as Training for Women in Ammunition Management."

The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding further solidifies the commitment of both institutions to continue their collaborative efforts in promoting peace and security, and it opens the door for even greater impact in the future.
