VISIT BY THE NATIONAL DEFENCE UNIVERSITY CHINESE PEOPLE LIBERATION ARMY DELEGATION

On 17 June 2025, we had the honour of hosting a delegation from the National Defence University- Chinese People’s Liberation Army.
The delegation led by the Vice President National Defence University of China Major General Huang Dunshun was warmly received and taken through a comprehensive briefing that highlighted IPSTC’s role in delivering multidimensional peace support training and research to military, police, and civilian personnel across Africa and beyond.
NDUC 1
In her remark, Director IPSTC Brigadier Joyce C Sitienei recognized the visit as a valuable step toward deeper academic and strategic cooperation. She emphasized the importance of such engagements in fostering mutual understanding, enhancing professional military education, and promoting shared approaches to peace and security.
NDUC 2
Major General Huang Dunshun emphasized the importance of academic collaboration as a key to strengthening military professionalism and noted that the visit would enhance mutual learning and deepen the bilateral relationship between the Kenya Defence Forces and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.
NDUC 3
Discussions during the visit focused on key thematic areas, including peacekeeping operations and the standards of training delivered at IPSTC, with emphasis on the importance of aligning with international best practices.
NDUC 5
The delegation also visited the Humanitarian Peace Support School (HPSS), where they received a brief on the school’s mandate and its specialized training in Counter–Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED) to support peacekeeping operations.
NDUC 4
The visit marked a meaningful step in fostering mutual collaboration, knowledge exchange, and strategic dialogue. The Centre remains open to future engagements and partnerships that contribute to building sustainable peace and security, both regionally and internationally.
