COMPUTER EQUIPMENT DONATION FROM CHINESE GOVERNMENT

The Director IPSTC, Brigadier Joyce C Sitienei led IPSTC staff in receiving computer equipment from the China Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Zhou Pingjian. The equipment will aid in the delivery of E-learning systems.
"Today's training institutions are increasingly adapting pedagogical approaches to impart the knowledge and skills required for peace operations - Experience-based learning, simulation, and role plays have been used with positive results. Thanks to this donation, the Centre can continue to work towards excellence by developing multidimensional and multifunctional training platforms to prepare individuals and organizations to work more effectively in contemporary peace operations," she emphasized.
The ambassador also delivered a lecture of opportunity on "Outlook of Security and Development in the Horn of Africa" to the Regional Senior Mission Leaders Course participants.

TECHNICAL VISIT TO THE WHITE HELMETS COMMISSION ARGENTINE REPUBLIC

On behalf of the Director, Brigadier Joyce C Sitienei, Ms. Monica Musyoni represented IPSTC at the White Helmets Commission, in the Argentine Republic from 4-9 November 2022. 

The purpose of the technical visit to the Argentine Republic was to participate as observers in the Comprehensive Workshop on Skills in Emergencies, the 9th United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) Consultative Meeting for the Americas, and the 21st International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) regional meeting with a view to learn and adopt best practices in Disaster Risk Management for the benefit of our institutions, and the Government and the people of the Republic of Kenya. They reviewed and adopted the report of the WHC technical visit to Kenya.  To the most reasonable extent, explored the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Disaster Management Unit (NDMU) and the WHC. They also deliberated on and set the stage for the immediate short and medium-term mutual areas of collaboration.

During the visit, the delegation was honoured to meet and have discussions with Ambassador Dr. Sabina Frederic, President of the Agency for International Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid, White Helmets Commission (WHC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship and H.E. Esteban Chala, National Director of Civil Protection, Ministry of Security, among other key Disaster Risk Management (DRM) officials in the Argentine Republic and in the larger Americas Region.

26TH INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PEACEKEEPING TRAINING CENTRES ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Our delegation, led by the Director Brigadier Sitienei, joined other International Association Peacekeeping Training Centres(IAPTC) members in Bangladesh for the 26th IAPTC Annual Conference.
This year, the conference focuses on “Peace Operations in the Digital Era-Opportunities and Challenges for the Global Training Community”.
