VISIT BY ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF THE SECOND AFRICA DIVISION-MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS JAPAN

IPSTC held discussions with Mr. Hiroshi Seto, the Assistant Director of the Second Africa Division-Ministry of Foreign Affairs Japan who was accompanied by the Defence Attaché Japan to Kenya Commander Kawashima Keiko.

During the meeting, Colonel C. Aritho, the Colonel Plans and Programmes, extended a warm welcome to Mr. Seto, highlighting Japan's longstanding support since 2011 and the significant impact this has had over the years. Mr. Seto was given a comprehensive presentation of the Centre and the IPSTC-Japan partnership.

In his remarks, Mr. Seto expressed sincere gratitude, acknowledging the positive influence of the Government of Japan’s contributions in the region. The meeting concluded with a group photo and the presentation of mementos.

VISIT BY THE DEFENCE ATTACHÉ FOR ITALY TO KENYA

IPSTC hosted the Defence Attaché (DA) for Italy to Kenya, Somalia, and Tanzania, Captain (Navy)Mario de Rosa. The meeting served as a valuable opportunity to brief the DA on the Centre’s ongoing initiatives and the critical role IPSTC plays in regional security and collaboration.

The DA was provided with an overview of the key activities of the Centre, highlighting the efforts in fostering international partnerships and enhancing defence cooperation within the region.

During the session, there was engagement in thoughtful deliberations, addressing areas of mutual interest and potential avenues for further collaboration.

DIRECTOR IPSTC BRIEFS CABINET SECRETARY DEFENCE ON ELSIE INITIATIVE FUND

Today, our Director Brigadier Joyce Sitienei briefed the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Defence, Hon. Soipan Tuya E.G.H on the Human Rights Due Diligence Policy report outlining the proposed mitigating measures. Hon Soipan approved the document, which will now be forwarded to the Elsie Initiative Fund - A fund that supports the meaningful participation of uniformed women in United Nations peace operations.
