THE UN/AU CIVIL MILITARY COORDINATION COURSE (CIMIC)
The UN/AU Civil Military Coordination course (CIMIC) was successfully conducted at the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC). The course, which was sponsored by the Government of France and European Union (EU) in collaboration with the IPSTC comprised of 23 participants from African Troop Contributing Countries namely; Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, DRC, South Sudan and Kenya.
CIMIC is a military staff function in UN/AU integrated missions that facilitates the interface between the military and civilian components in the mission, as well as with the humanitarian, development actors in the mission area, in order to support UN mission objectives.
The opening ceremony was presided over by the EU Head of Political delegation, Mr. Guy Harrison accompanied by the Director IPSTC, Brig Charles Mwazighe, Commandant PCSS, Lt Col Rhoda Mwasigwa and the SO1 Plans &Progs Lt Col Aymeric Molle.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Col plans& Programs G Ohndyl; who was accompanied by the French Defence Attaché; Lt Col Mark De Block, Chief of Staff; Lt Col Ambrose Jonty, SO1 Plans & Progs and the Head of training PCSS, Lt Col R K Kipkurui.
