The Gender Focal Point (GFP) Program Development is underway at the Humanitarian Peace Support School (HPSS) in Embakasi. The program sponsored by Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) aims to strengthen the capacity of participants to serve as effective gender focal points, promoting gender equality and inclusion within mine action programs.

The Deputy Commandant HPSS Lieutenant Colonel Kaptuway highlighted the significance of the program in promoting gender inclusivity within humanitarian and mine action efforts. He also expressed gratitude to the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) for their continued support and encouraged participants to actively engage in the training to become effective agents of change in their respective fields.

The GICHD Advisor on Gender and Diversity Mr. Dominic, in his remark, expressed his sincere appreciation to HPSS for their support in facilitating the program. He commended the collaborative efforts that made the training possible and emphasized that mine action is not only about technical effectiveness but must also prioritize gender inclusion to truly meet the needs of affected communities.
The program has 16 participants from Kenya, United Kingdom, Iraq, Canada, Yemen, Ukraine, Uganda, South Sudan, Colombia, and Sudan.
