The Commandant Peace and Conflict Studies School (PCSS), Colonel Mwasigwa welcomed participants of the Protection of Civilians and Civilian Harm Mitigation Trainer of Trainers course, which we are hosting at our headquarters in Karen.
CIVIC 4 2023
Officially opening the course was the Officer in Charge at the Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC) East Africa Regional Office, Mr. John Okanga. In his address, Mr. Okanga expressed his confidence in his facilitators, who bring on board a wealth of experience from both practice and learning. This he mentioned as CIVIC marked another milestone in their quest to empower and walk with the military and their respective governments to ensure civilian protection is upheld.

The week-long course is intended for middle-level instructors drawn from the military, preferably working in training institutions or are likely to be posted there. It is designed to equip them with the requisite knowledge and skills that will enable them to understand, plan and implement effective training in the Protection of civilians and civilian harm mitigation for military activities in conflict zones. The participants were drawn from Kenya, Somalia, and Uganda.
