At our Humanitarian Peace and Support School in Embakasi, the Disaster Preparedness and Response Planning Course slated for two weeks, began.
 DPRP 2
Anchored on preparation, the course will see the participants imparted with the requisite knowledge that will enable them to prepare effectively in the event of a disaster. Foreseeing the disaster as the course deems, is crucial in cushioning losses on lives, livelihoods, as well as economic, physical, social, cultural, and environmental assets.
 DPRP 1
The participants, 35 in number, are majorly from the National Defence University- Kenya (NDU-K) pursuing a Master's Programme in Conflict Related Disaster Management, together with UNDP staff, members of the Danish Refugee Council, and members from St. John's Ambulance.
Officiating the opening ceremony was the Vice Chancellor NDU-K, Major General S M Farah. In his remarks, the VC was well aware of the implications that beckon when disaster strikes. He noted that they provide constant reminders of the need to continuously monitor our environment for preparedness, prediction, and early warning. He also urged the participants to exchange their thoughts and experiences as they curve their careers as crisis response and disaster management experts.

In his company was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Applied Research and Innovation, Maj Gen Shume, and the Director of Exams at the NDU-K, Brigadier E Omollo.
