Participants from across Africa including Kenya, Ghana, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Uganda, Zambia, and Malawi took part in a 5-day course at our Humanitarian Peace Support School in Embakasi. The participants comprised selected members of the African Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) troop, conducting peace operations in the East Africa region.
The course on Improvised Explosive Device Threat Mitigation, purposed to equip the participants with cutting-edge theoretical and practical knowledge on planning and managing Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED) operations at different levels. The appreciation and understanding of the course provided regarding C-IED will enable them to provide specific advice during planning and awareness of counter-insurgency operations.
Through such training, we are able to improve the effectiveness of peace support operations in our region and aid our bid to establish global peace and security.
