𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐎𝐑 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒' 𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐘𝐀 𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐂𝐄𝐒 𝐒𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐑

Senior commanders from the Kenya Defence Forces are having a two-day seminar running from the 25th-26th of April 2023 at the Humanitarian Peace Support School.

The seminar’s theme, “Commanders' role in disease prevention” focused primarily on understanding how HIV/AIDS, amongst other communicable and non-communicable diseases, affect KDF operations.

Maj. General J.S Mwinyikai, General Officer Commanding Eastern Command (GOC EASTCOM) on behalf of the Deputy Army commander, presided over the opening ceremony and appreciated the commanders for their roles as leaders and the responsibility they bear. He further urged the commanders to be mindful of the physical as well as mental well-being of soldiers.

Mental health challenges in patients with chronic diseases, stigma, and discrimination among other topics will be presented at the seminar. Such knowledge will be pivotal in helping the commanders continue executing their administrative roles effectively in their respective units.
