HUMANITARIAN PEACE SUPPORT SCHOOL (HPSS)
BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

The school was formally known as International Mine Action Training Centre (IMATC). It was established in February 2005 as part of British/Kenyan initiative to build capacity in training of regional Military personnel in Demining Operations aimed at reducing the social, economic and environmental impact of landmines and proliferation of Arms.

In the year 2009, IMATC merged with the old PSTC (Karen) to create one Centre - International Peace Support training Centre (IPSTC). The institution was then renamed to Humanitarian Peace Support School (HPSS).

Over the years, HPSS diversified its training to include Tactical Peace Support Operations, Small Arms & Light Weapons (SALW), Disaster Management & Response and now Counter Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) training.

MISSION

To conduct high quality training in Mine Action, Disaster Management and PSO and CIED related courses to the Military, Civil Police and Civilian Personnel in order to promote effectiveness in response to complex emergencies.

VISION

To create a premier credible humanitarian peace support platform offering comprehensive and realistic training for Peace Support and Disaster Management Operations.
