Director's Message

I am pleased to welcome you to the website of the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) based here in Nairobi, Kenya. As Director of the Centre, I am delighted to represent IPSTC as an international centre of excellence in Peace Support Operations (PSO) training, education and research that operates within a comprehensive and multidimensional context.

IPSTC is the oldest PSO training centre in Eastern Africa and one of the largest on the African continent. In its two decade of existence, IPSTC has spearheaded the preparation of military, police and civilian personnel for effective response to complex emergencies. Our experienced and highly knowledgeable staff and pool of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) put together best practices with innovative training methods to prepare individuals for deployment on Afican Union (AU) and United Nations (UN) peace operations

In order to ensure that IPSTC training products maintain UN and AU standards and that the training we provide meets acceptable levels of quality, the Centre has sought and received accreditation and recognition from a number of courses from the UN Integrated Training Services (ITS). In addition to complying with with UN training standards IPSTC endeavours to integrate AU doctrine into training as necessary.

Today, many of IPSTC alumni are actively deployed in UN and AU missions around the world. IPSTC has become not only one of the most renowned PSO training centres, but also a place for nurturing peace and security practitioners.

We as a Centre in collaboration with our partners are dedicated to making sure that the event that you choose to attend any IPSTC training you will receive an excellent experience that will enhance your skills and knowledge in PSO.

This website is designed to provide you an insight into our organisation and introduce you to our staff, partners and the activities undertaken at IPSTC. This site serves as a gateway into the Centre, showcasing the facilities and conductive atmosphere; and the research, training and education opportunities available within our two Schools and Research Department.
