JAPAN, UNDP AND IPSTC PARTNERSHIP CONTINUES TO STRENGTHEN
IPSTC was honored to welcome the Director General/ Assistant Minister for Global Issues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Japan, Mr Takeshi AKAHORI, who was received by Col Plans and Programs, Col R M Mwasigwa.
His visit sought to acquaint him with the training programs undertaken at the Centre, through the support of his government.
Consequently, the visit saw him taken through the 8 projects that IPSTC has carried out, aiming at building the capacity of military, police and civilian personnel in matters of peace and security. Some of them include areas of Women Peace and Security, Maritime and Blue Economy, Community Resilience and Peacebuilding, Institution Capacity Building, to name but a few. He also got the chance to see testimonials from some of the beneficiaries of the projects, having trained over 5,000 participants, including the youth and women at the community level.
The Director General applauded the efforts of IPSTC in collaboration with UNDP, and our notable contribution to peace and security both in Africa and globally. He was especially pleased with the integration our training has with global issues and was optimistic about the partnership being strengthened.
He was later given a tour of our facilities after which he proceeded to plant a tree at the Centre to mark his auspicious visit. He was in the company of UNDP staff led by the Deputy Resident UNDP-Kenya, Ms Madelena Monoja, Senior Officers and IPSTC staff.
